Cognitive Behavior Therapy

  • Cognitive Therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a holistic way of approaching change for people who want to make a difference in their lives.
  • CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, behavior, biology and environment. Any positive or negative changes in any one of these areas results in changes in all of the others.
  • In this type of therapy, there is a focus on an understanding of your situation, what goes through your mind, and what steps you can take to improve the quality of your life. Your emotions are important and valid but they are not the only focus of therapy. Based primarily on facts and evidence, you should see an improvement in your feelings and perhaps in your acceptance and happiness.
  • Learning Opportunities in between sessions are an integral part of CBT treatment. Your involvement in your therapy will be quite high and you will work at your pace.
  • CBT isn’t for everyone. Many people are helped by this focused, usually shorter-term, skills-based form of therapy.
  • CBT is generally effective for:
anxiety, depression, bipolar illness, phobias, relationships, stress and health related issues, trauma, OCD, and other phase of life challenges.
